The Base Station Controller has the ability to learn most IR commands from other remote controls and then store them so that they can be used by your system to operate the original device. Learning IR commands, while a powerful feature, should be a last resort. We make every effort to provide you with any codes you need via our database. Database codes are much faster to program and more reliable.
Keep the following tips in mind if you are going to learn IR commands.
This is a brief outline, but you should review the full IR Learning process in the Programming Guide before getting started. To begin the learning process click on Learn codes from an IR device.
1. First you will decide where in the system devices you will save the learned new commands to. You can learn the commands to either an existing device in the system, or you can create an entirely new device. If you have a database code that works the device but is missing some functions, you can save time by learning to an existing device. Otherwise it may be more efficient to create a new blank device. Select the option that you need and then click Next.
If you choose to create a new device for learning, it requires entering some basic information so that the system correctly handles your device.
If you choose to learn IR commands to an existing device, you will need to designate the device. Select the room where the device is programmed, then select the device that you want to learn to.
Click Next when ready.
2. Now you will select exactly what button you would like to store the learned command to. You will use the button simulator for this. You may pick a blank button or a button that already has command data on it. If there are no blank buttons available you can add a new page to the menu pages and then select a button from the newly added page.
Click on Learn! when you are ready to proceed.
3. The Learning IR window will open after you click the Learn! button and the controller base station will be readied to accept IR commands into the front panel lens.
4. Learn as many commands as you need to. When you have completed learning be sure to click Finish.
